Job summary

KODIAK Construction Recruiting & Staffing is seeking a Mechanical QC Tech/Inspector for a Data Center construction project in Houston, TX. The role ensures all activities meet contract documents, specs, client requirements, and industry codes while fostering quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

The QC Technician/Inspector works with Construction Management, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and client representatives to ensure work is completed correctly the first time.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ to 7+ years of industrial construction QA/QC experience.
• Experience with EPC projects is preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings is required.
• Ability to read P&IDs, Isometric Drawings, IFC Drawings, Structural Drawings and Electrical One-Line Diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of construction activities and verify work complies with project drawings and specifications.
• Monitor installation across structural steel, piping, welding, electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, concrete, and civil work.
• Review QITPs, ensure material traceability, and document inspections.
• Complete daily inspection reports and punch lists, track NCRs, and support quality turnover packages.
• Coordinate with owner inspections, hold points, and third-party inspectors.

Join a mission-critical data center construction project where quality is essential to every phase of construction. As a QC Technician/Inspector, you will help ensure all construction activities comply with contract documents, engineering specifications, client requirements, and applicable industry codes while promoting a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

This position works closely with Construction Management, Project Engineers, Superintendents, Client Representatives, and Craft Professionals to ensure work is completed correctly the first time.

What You’ll Do:

Construction Quality Oversight

• Perform daily inspections of construction activities and verify work comply with project drawings and specifications.
• Monitor installation of structural steel, piping, welding, electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, concrete, and civil work.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Inspection Test Plans (QITPs) and verify material traceability and documentation.

Inspection & Testing

• Perform in-process/final inspections, equipment walkdowns and support system turnover activities.
• Verify installation tolerances, bolting, torque requirements, and structural connections.
• Review weld fit-up and completed welds, and coordinate NDE activities.

Documentation

• Complete daily inspection reports, maintain inspection logs, and prepare punch lists.
• Track NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports).
• Verify corrective actions, maintain turnover documentation, and support quality turnover packages.

Client Coordination

• Participate in owner inspections and project quality meetings.
• Coordinate hold points and support third-party inspectors
• Interface with engineering and project controls.

What You’ll Bring

• High School Diploma or GED
• 3-7+ years of industrial construction QA/QC experience
• Experience with EPC projects
• Strong understanding of construction drawings
• Ability to read: P&IDs, Isometric Drawings, IFC Drawings, Structural Drawings, Electrical One-Line Diagrams

Preferred Certifications

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) (preferred or required depending on project)
