Job summary

Voyager Technologies in Pueblo, CO, is seeking a Mechanical Properties Technician to support chemical lab testing of composite materials for solid rocket propellant production. This onsite role reports to the Chemical Lab Manager.

Responsibilities include executing established test methods (load frame analysis, calorimetry, burn rate), recording data in LIMS, and maintaining equipment. Travel between Penrose and Pueblo may be required; lifting up to 50 pounds may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures consistently and accurately.
• Good data recording and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a structured, routine testing environment under the direction of a supervising chemist.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses (must be 21+ and pass background checks).

Responsibilities

• Execute established mechanical properties test methods for composite materials, including load frame analysis, calorimetry, and burn rate testing, following WIs and protocols.
• Perform routine in-process and acceptance testing of materials per standards and internal procedures.
• Record and document test data and results accurately and clearly, including entry into LIMS.
• Compile test results into deliverables such as tables and charts for review by supervising chemists.
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot testing equipment under supervision.
• Follow ISO-compliant data collection, retention, and documentation practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment and safety protocols.
