Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage and collaborate with project stakeholders.
• Maintain effective communication across internal teams to ensure consistent delivery to the client.
• Analyze, track, and manage critical milestone activities to avoid schedule slips.
• Verify that project governance, processes and systems are utilized.
• Ensure application of best practice on all projects.
• Produce formal project status reports and other required reports.
• Monitor progress of multiple construction projects to ensure design standards are applied.
• Manage interface between suppliers through monthly trackers and weekly reviews.
• Coordinate project information flow through regular meetings and written communications.
• Forecast and update key project milestones.
• Provide technical support to owners, architects, general contractors and regional stakeholders.
• Respond rapidly to RFIs from the field.
• Offer cost control, value engineering, and constructability guidance when needed.
• Independently review status reports, drawings, timelines and costs from architects, contractors and suppliers.
• Assist in developing relationships with clients to maximize new opportunities.
• Provide strategic advice to project teams to meet client and business objectives.
• Capture key learnings from each project for knowledge management.
• Identify ways to improve internal systems and processes.

Turner & Townsendis seeking anMechanical Project Manager – Data Center Constructionwith Field Experience to support a high-profile data center construction project. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the General Contractor’s construction activities, with a strong focus on reporting on schedule status back to the project owner. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise from working in the field, strong leadership, and a background in large-scale data center/mission critical works or electrical contracting environments.

Responsibilities:

• Effectively manage and collaborate with project stakeholders.
• Effective communication across our internal team to ensure efficiency and a consistent delivery to the client.
• Can analyze, track, and effectively manage critical milestone activities to avoid schedule slip.
• Verify that effective project governance, processes and systems are utilized.
• Ensure application of best practice on all projects.
• Production of formal project status reports and other reports as required.
• Monitor the progress of multiple construction projects simultaneously to ensure that the approved design standards are being applied correctly.
• Manage the interface between all suppliers through monthly trackers and weekly reviews.
• Manage the flow of project information between the project team through regular meetings and written communications.
• Forecast and update key project milestones.
• Manage and monitor local design teams in accordance with commission criteria.
• Provide technical support to owners, architects, general contractors and regional stakeholders.
• Rapid response to RFIs from the field.
• Provide expertise for cost control, value engineering, and constructability guidance where required.
• Independent review of status reports, drawing submittals, timelines and costs from architects, contractors and suppliers.
• Client management – assist in developing excellent working relationships with Clients, with a view towards maximizing new opportunities.
• Strategic Thinking - provides advice to project teams on approaches that can be adopted to successfully achieve both clients’ objectives and business objectives.
• Knowledge management – ensure that key information and learnings generated from each project is captured.
• Process improvement – Identify ways to improve internal systems and processes
• SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of electrical project management experience, ideally in data center construction or with an electrical contractor.
• Experience with substation and power distribution systems preferred.
• Familiarity with MEP design
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in project management tools
• Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and construction methodologies.
• Proficiency in the Data Center Commissioning Process (levels 1 - 5 )
• Proficiency managing construction documents including BODs, specifications, contract drawings, C/D/E’s, equipment submittals and RFIs.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Procore, P6, CxAlloy, and other construction project management tools
