Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager for a high-profile data center construction project. This on-site role will oversee the GC’s activities, focusing on schedule reporting and field leadership to ensure quality and timely delivery.

The candidate should have 5+ years in electrical project management within data centers or electrical contracting, strong MEP design familiarity, and proficiency with Procore, P6, and the Office suite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 5+ years of electrical project management experience in data center construction or with an electrical contractor.
• Experience with substation and power distribution systems preferred.
• Familiarity with MEP design and relevant codes, standards, and construction methodologies.
• Proficiency with project management tools including Procore, P6, Excel, and Office suite.
• Experience in data center commissioning processes (DCCP) levels 1–5.
• Ability to manage construction documents (BODs, specs, drawings, RFIs).

Responsibilities

• Oversee the General Contractor’s construction activities and report schedule status to the project owner.
• Lead stakeholder collaboration and ensure consistent client delivery.
• Monitor critical milestones and prevent schedule slips.
• Ensure governance, processes and systems are applied on all projects.
• Produce formal status reports and other project documentation.
• Coordinate interfaces between suppliers via monthly trackers and weekly reviews.
• Provide technical support to owners, architects, and regional stakeholders.
• Respond rapidly to RFIs from the field and support cost control efforts.

Turner & Townsend is seeking an Mechanical Project Manager - Data Center Construction with Field Experience to support a high-profile data center construction project. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the General Contractor’s construction activities, with a strong focus on reporting on schedule status back to the project owner. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise from working in the field, strong leadership, and a background in large-scale data center/mission critical works or electrical contracting environments.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage and collaborate with project stakeholders.
• Effective communication across our internal team to ensure efficiency and a consistent delivery to the client.
• Can analyze, track, and effectively manage critical milestone activities to avoid schedule slip.
• Verify that effective project governance, processes and systems are utilized.
• Ensure application of best practice on all projects.
• Production of formal project status reports and other reports as required.
• Monitor the progress of multiple construction projects simultaneously to ensure that the approved design standards are being applied correctly.
• Manage the interface between all suppliers through monthly trackers and weekly reviews.
• Manage the flow of project information between the project team through regular meetings and written communications.
• Forecast and update key project milestones.
• Manage and monitor local design teams in accordance with commission criteria.
• Provide technical support to owners, architects, general contractors and regional stakeholders.
• Rapid response to RFIs from the field.
• Provide expertise for cost control, value engineering, and constructability guidance where required.
• Independent review of status reports, drawing submittals, timelines and costs from architects, contractors and suppliers.
• Client management – assist in developing excellent working relationships with Clients, with a view towards maximizing new opportunities.
• Strategic Thinking - provides advice to project teams on approaches that can be adopted to successfully achieve both clients’ objectives and business objectives.
• Knowledge management – ensure that key information and learnings generated from each project is captured.
• Process improvement – Identify ways to improve internal systems and processes
• SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of electrical project management experience, ideally in data center construction or with an electrical contractor.
• Experience with substation and power distribution systems preferred.
• Familiarity with MEP design
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in project management tools
• Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and construction methodologies.
• Proficiency in the Data Center Commissioning Process (levels 1 –5 )
• Proficiency managing construction documents including BODs, specifications, contract drawings, C/D/E’s, equipment submittals and RFIs.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Procore, P6, CxAlloy, and other construction project management tools
