Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop custom sheet metal and structural components for a variety of applications. You will transform customer requirements into manufacturable SolidWorks designs, maintain BOMs, and ensure smooth production handoff in a hands-on team environment.

The role involves managing projects from concept through completion, collaborating with manufacturing, sales, and quality to optimize designs for fabrication and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements to understand functional needs and design intent for sheet metal and structural assemblies.
• Develop mechanical designs and variations for fabricated components in SolidWorks.
• Create and maintain accurate BOMs for materials, hardware, and assemblies.
• Coordinate with purchasing to ensure timely identification of required materials.
• Release finalized designs with complete drawings, models, and documentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are practical for fabrication.
• Work with sales, marketing, and quality to align designs with customer and internal standards.
• Support product development through design updates and new configurations.
• Assist project management by tracking progress and coordinating tasks from concept to release.
• Use EPDM or similar tools to manage files, revisions, and engineering documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, fabrication processes, and product performance.
• Work hands-on with production teams to validate design intent and understand fabrication methods.
• Maintain strong attention to detail across all design work and documentation.
