Job summary

CESO, Overland Park, KS, seeks a Mechanical Project Engineer II to lead design tasks on diverse programs, ensuring projects finish on time and within budget per industry standards.

You will develop layouts in Revit/AutoCAD, perform Carrier HAP calculations, model systems, and collaborate with architects, contractors and engineers to determine scope and equipment needs, while mentoring junior staff under the Engineer of Record.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in mechanical or architectural engineering.
• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Master’s degree can substitute up to 1 year of work experience.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for project and program designs under supervision and senior staff oversight.
• Coordinate design requirements with architects, contractors and engineers to determine scope and equipment needs.
• Attend client/owner/architect meetings and visit sites to verify conditions and progress.
• Develop advanced system layouts, details, schematics and schedules using Revit/AutoCAD.
• Review shop drawings and equipment submittals for conformance to plans.

At CESO, a Mechanical Project Engineer II shows technical proficiency performing standard engineering design techniques for small, intermediate, or large projects and completes all necessary tasks on assigned projects so projects finish on time, within budget and consistent with industry production and care standards. The Project Engineer II will continuously seek opportunities to learn and develop within the discipline with the senior staff support

• Assume responsibility for project and program designs, concepts, and standards under Engineer of Record supervision and senior staff oversight.
• Communicate design requirements and assist project managers with project coordination and facilitation between architects, contractors, other engineers, equipment manufacturer representatives, and other team members to determine project scope, feasibility, and equipment needs, and provide operating procedures and technical information.
• Attend and participate in owner, client, or architect meetings as needed and visit project sites to verify existing conditions and/or observe construction progress.
• Participate in client, company, and industry events to build and maintain professional relationships.
• Consistently maintains proficient understanding of industry standards and regulations.
• Perform calculations, develop design approaches and concepts, design engineering system(s), and fulfill other duties as assigned through collaboration with junior and senior staff, and senior staff and Engineer of Record approval:
• Create advanced system layouts, detail drawings, schematics, and schedules using Revit, AutoCAD or other software.
• Develop Heating and Cooling Load Calculations within Carrier HAP software.
• Model airside ductwork, air terminals, and equipment.
• Model waterside piping, pumps, terminal and main equipment.
• Help prepare and modify studies, plans, specifications, and project designs.
• Oversee drawing preparation and ensure work accuracy and neatness prior to final QA/QC review.
• Reviews Shop Drawings and Equipment Submittals for conformance to plan documents and project specifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and 7 or more years of relevant experience is required;
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering, or similar discipline, can substitute up to 1 year of work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, AEC industry, codes and standards is required.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
  • Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Revit, Carrier HAP, and BlueBeam Revu
