Job summary

CESO, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Staff Designer II in the Akron area to support senior staff with basic engineering design, calculations, and document production.

You will create system layouts and drawings using Revit and AutoCAD, develop heat load calculations in Carrier HAP, and collaborate across architects, contractors, and engineers to ensure timely project delivery. The role requires a relevant engineering degree (ABET) with 3+ years' experience or 5+ years without a degree, plus

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from ABET accredited college or university with 3+ years of experience preferred; or 5+ years without a degree.
  • Master's degree can substitute up to 1 year of work experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of engineering design, AEC industry, codes and standards.
  • FE exam and EIT certification with a state licensure board preferred.
  • Computer skills for daily timesheet data entry and MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Carrier HAP and BlueBeam Revu preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate basic design requirements with internal/external teams to determine scope.
  • Develop design approaches with input from senior staff.
  • Participate in client and industry events to build relationships.
  • Understand industry standards and company procedures for project execution.
  • Perform calculations, design basic systems, and support project duties with senior staff.
  • Create layouts, drawings, schematics, and schedules in Revit, AutoCAD or similar tools.
  • Develop heating/cooling load calculations within Carrier HAP.
  • Model airside ductwork, air terminals, and equipment.
  • Model waterside piping, pumps, terminal and main equipment.
  • Assist in studies, plans, reports, specs, and designs.
  • Support project managers with coordination and technical information.

At CESO, a Mechanical Staff Designer II is proficient in basic engineering practices which helps the senior design staff execute projects by performing basic duties including technical design and calculations, document production, and all other necessary project duties to complete projects on time, within budget and consistent with industry production and care standards.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Communication of basic design requirements effectively with internal and external design team members, contractors, and equipment sales representatives to determine project scope and feasibility.
  • Begin to develop design approaches and concepts with the input and oversight from senior staff.
  • Participate in client, company, and industry events to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Develop an understanding of industry standards, the technical policies and company-specific procedures for project execution.
  • Perform calculations, design basic engineering system(s), and fulfill other duties as assigned through collaboration and with assistance from experienced design staff.
  • Create system layouts, detail drawings, schematics, and schedules using Revit, AutoCAD or other software.
  • Develop Heating and Cooling Load Calculations within Carrier HAP software.
  • Model airside ductwork, air terminals, and equipment.
  • Model waterside piping, pumps, terminal and main equipment.
  • Help prepare and modify studies, plans, reports, specifications, and project designs.
  • Assist project managers and design team with project coordination and facilitation between architects, contractors, other engineers, and other team members to determine project scope, feasibility, and equipment needs, and provide operating procedures and technical information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university and 3 or more years of relevant experience is preferred; Or a minimum of 5 years of relevant design experience without a degree is required.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering, or similar discipline, can substitute up to 1 year of work experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, AEC industry, codes and standards is required.
  • Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) and certification as an Engineering in Training (EIT) with a state licensure board is preferred.
  • Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Prior experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Carrier HAP, and BlueBeam Revu is preferred.

$60,997 - $104,549 a year

Actual pay is determined by several factors, including location, experience, education, skills, and internal equity. Our pay structures are benchmarked against industry and market data to stay competitive. Each offer is based on a full review of a candidate's background, qualifications, and fit for the role.

Below are the typical new hire pay ranges for this position based on location:

Rogers, AR: $60,997 - $72,444
