Job summary

dbHMS’s Design Studio in Chicago is seeking a Project Engineer to support the engineering of systems for diverse projects, coordinating with clients, architects, and MEP engineers to create comprehensive designs for spaces. The role emphasizes collaboration with senior engineers and mentoring entry-level engineers.

The ideal candidate has 3–7 years of design experience, strong BIM skills, and the ability to travel for project site work.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 3–7 years of design experience in mechanical, electrical, or architectural disciplines.
• Proficient in BIM software and modeling techniques.

Responsibilities

• Understand building codes and apply them to project design.
• Develop drawings, specifications, and system layouts for projects.
• Perform field observations, site visits, and coordination with clients and engineers.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and change orders with senior staff.
• Mentor junior engineers and facilitate design discussions.
