DMC is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead design efforts across automation, test, and embedded hardware projects in a hybrid environment in Chicago. You will work with multidisciplinary teams and customers to deliver robust mechanical solutions from concept through integration and commissioning.

The role emphasizes mentoring, adherence to engineering standards, and advancing DMC’s practices. 3+ years in design, CAD, and GD&T are expected, with travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (min GPA 3.4).
• 3+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Experience designing CNC components, sheet metal, weldments, and frames.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations for material strength and power transmission.
• Up to 25% travel.

Responsabilités

• Executes mechanical design for multidisciplinary projects ensuring designs are robust, functional, and cost effective.
• Researches and reviews COTS and custom system components against project budget and system functional requirements.
• Works effectively under project schedules and budgets.
• Partners with customers and cross functional teams to define requirements, develop designs, and support implementation.
• Maintains and promote engineering standards and best practices.
• Improves documentation, drawings, BOM structure, and revision control.
