Job summary

ANDRITZ in Arlington, TX is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering for assigned projects, including planning, project engineering, layouts, and cost control. You will ensure design traceability and maintainability of machine specifications while coordinating with project management and other engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities include generating layouts and specs for new projects, supporting purchasing and quality control, and reviewing vendor submittals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum five years of related experience in project engineering and mechanical design.
• Ability to interpret and communicate technical needs at all levels of personnel and management.
• Experience with machine/fabrication/welding shop techniques and methods.
• Knowledge of cost estimating procedures.
• Capable of providing value engineering judgments.
• Knowledge of engineering Bills of Material structure.
• Strong emphasis on organization and multitasking ability.
• AutoCAD Mechanical and Microsoft Office software knowledge required.
• Inventor/Vault/SAP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• For new projects: generate and review project layout drawings, specifications and scope.
• Supports Project Management and Sales to assure customer and contract satisfaction while maintaining hardware integrity.
• Ensures total design traceability of standard equipment and project-related modifications.
• Coordinate interfaces with Project Management, Electrical Eng and Process Eng for hardware compatibility.
• Specify, recommend and approve buy-out items and auxiliary components.
• Identify cost savings opportunities through value engineering techniques.
• Support Purchasing and Quality Control in evaluating vendor hardware.
• Attend project meetings with customers, engineers, vendors and manufacturers as needed.
• Approve/certify vendor mechanical submittals and review design calculations.
• Initiate mechanical Bills of Materials for release to production.
• Identify, evaluate and communicate corrective actions for mechanical problems.
• Support aftermarket group for retrofit: review layouts, create retrofit BoM kits and design items as required.
