Job summary

RK Industries is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team in supporting large-scale mechanical construction projects. You will coordinate drawings, manage RFIs, submittals, procurement, and schedules, while ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

You will collaborate with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and field staff to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget, with a clear path for career growth within our engineering and construction management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in construction, engineering, or project coordination.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, drawings, specs, and admin processes.
  • Experience supporting submittals, RFIs, procurement, scheduling, and project documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure requirements are defined and met.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, operation/maintenance manuals, and as-built docs.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, billing, change estimates, and financial tracking.
  • Support procurement activities, buyout processes, and subcontractor negotiations.
  • Coordinate material and equipment purchasing, delivery, and release schedules.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of project schedules with field leadership.
  • Coordinate communication between owners, architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure documentation, permits, licenses, and records are completed accurately and on time.
  • Monitor labor hours, costs, productivity, and budget performance.
  • Support change order and change request processes, including tracking and documentation.
  • Verify materials invoiced and work billed align with delivery/completion.
  • Assist with project quality control and ensure contractual compliance.
  • Support project closeout activities and documentation requirements.
  • Help resolve technical, operational, and customer-related challenges.

What You'll Do
  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout

  • Collaborate with field teams to maintain project schedules, quality standards, and customer expectations
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1-2 years of experience in construction, engineering, project coordination, or a related role
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and project administration processes
  • Experience supporting submittals, RFIs, procurement, scheduling, and project documentation preferred
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams
  • Proficiency with construction management software, Microsoft Office, and technical documentation tools
