EWI is supporting a leading global wind energy manufacturer in the recruitment of experienced Mechanical Production Technicians for its manufacturing operations in Iowa.
This is an excellent opportunity for mechanically skilled professionals with experience in manufacturing, mechanical assembly, automotive, construction or industrial equipment to join a growing renewable energy manufacturing operation.
The position will support the assembly and production of major wind turbine components, including nacelles, hubs and drive train systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical components used in wind turbine production.
- Work on major components including nacelles, hubs and drive train systems.
- Use hand tools, power tools, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and specialist torque tools.
- Follow detailed work instructions, engineering drawings and mechanical blueprints.
- Complete torquing, alignment and fit-up of large mechanical components including gearboxes, bearings and shafts.
- Operate and work around overhead cranes and material-handling equipment.
- Lift, position and move materials and components throughout the production process.
- Complete assigned production activities within required manufacturing schedules.
- Carry out safety inspections and maintain a clean and organised working environment.
- Work closely with Production, Quality and Engineering teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Support root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of production problems.
- Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist other production and assembly areas when required.
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality and workmanship throughout the manufacturing process.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 3 years experience within mechanical assembly, manufacturing or a similar hands‑on technical environment.
- Previous experience within wind turbine, automotive, heavy manufacturing, construction or industrial equipment would be highly advantageous.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on technical ability.
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints, drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience using torque tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools and measuring equipment.
- Previous overhead crane experience preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required crane operator certification.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Mechanical certifications or technical training are advantageous.
- Strong commitment to health, safety and quality.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable with physically demanding work including standing, walking, climbing, stooping and kneeling.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider production team.
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Background screening covering up to five years

- Verification of eligibility to work in the United States
- Respiratory fit testing where required by the position
