Job summary

Hunter Douglas, Inc. is seeking a Product Engineer I to design and develop mechanical components and assemblies, advancing product performance, quality, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.

You will partner with Product Management, Manufacturing, Operations, Purchasing, and Project Management to move concepts from prototype through production. The role emphasizes CAD prototyping, design reviews, and data-driven problem solving, with opportunities for cross-functional leadership and impact on

Qualifications

• BSME required and relevant engineering degree.
• 3+ years in product development, design or manufacturing engineering.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software, especially SolidWorks.
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals: statics, dynamics, mechanisms, design of components.
• Experience with plastic injection molding, engineered plastics, extrusion-based design.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, tolerance analysis and statistical data analysis.
• Experience with root cause analysis using engineering and data-driven tools.
• Familiarity with metrology equipment: calipers, gauges, comparators, vision systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and improve mechanical components, assemblies, and mechanisms for new products and sustaining projects.
• Create and maintain CAD models and engineering drawings in SolidWorks.
• Investigate root causes, analyze test and production data, implement corrective actions.
• Perform design reviews, tolerance analyses, DFMEA, and design verification testing.
• Prototype, validate, and optimize designs using rapid prototyping incl. 3D printing.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Manufacturing, Operations, Purchasing, and Project Management.
