Job summary

iAccept Agency is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead mechanical and HVAC piping estimates for major NYC commercial and high-rise projects. You will own the budgeting, takeoffs and final bid numbers, coordinating with PMs, executives and field leadership throughout execution.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in mechanical construction estimating and a proven track record in the NYC market, including union labor. A related degree is preferred but equivalent experience is accepted.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of mechanical construction estimating experience.
• Strong mechanical/HVAC piping estimating background.
• Experience with large commercial, high-rise or similarly complex projects.
• Solid understanding of the NYC construction market, incl. union labor.
• Ability to independently manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
• NYC-area subcontractor and vendor relationships are a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Own estimates for mechanical and HVAC piping systems from early budgeting through final bid.
• Review drawings, specifications and project requirements to develop accurate labor, material and equipment costs.
• Complete detailed quantity takeoffs and conceptual budgets.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor, supplier and vendor pricing.
• Develop competitive bid packages and proposals for large commercial projects.
• Identify scope gaps, project risks, value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.
• Participate in bid reviews, pre-bid walkthroughs, scope meetings and estimating strategy discussions.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Project Executives and field leadership as awarded projects move into execution.
• Stay current on labor rates, material pricing and changing market conditions.
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and industry partners.
• Help mentor and support junior estimators.

iAccept Agency is partnering with an established mechanical contractor to add an experienced Senior Estimator to its preconstruction team.

This is a senior-level seat for someone who knows mechanical piping, understands the NYC construction market, and enjoys the strategy behind putting together a competitive bid. You’ll have ownership throughout the estimating process, from early budgeting and takeoffs through final numbers and project turnover.

The projects are large, complex commercial and high-rise builds throughout the NYC market, so we’re looking for someone who has already operated successfully in that world.

The Background That Sets You Up for Success

• 8+ years of mechanical construction estimating experience
• Strong mechanical/HVAC piping estimating background
• Experience with large commercial, high-rise or similarly complex construction projects
• Solid understanding of the NYC construction market, including union labor
• Ability to independently manage multiple estimates and competing deadlines
• Experience with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, AutoBid, FastPIPE, PlanSwift or comparable estimating software
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
