Sylvester & Cockrum, a trusted mechanical contractor, seeks a Pre-Construction Estimator in Winston-Salem, NC. You will develop accurate estimates for HVAC, piping, electrical, and controls, evaluating plans, specs, labor, materials, and subcontractor pricing to support competitive bids.

Responsibilities include bid review, quantity takeoffs, and coordination with Operations. A strong background in mechanical systems and precise costing is required for successful project turnover.

Qualifications

• Estimating experience in mechanical construction is required.
• Ability to read drawings, specs, schedules, and contract documents.
• Strong math, analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
• Valid driver's license with insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Identify bid opportunities aligned with capabilities and objectives.
• Review plans, specs, addenda, and bid forms to define scope.
• Prepare labor, material, equipment and subcontractor costs for estimates.
• Solicit competitive prices and reflect scope, schedule, and bid requirements.
• Develop labor estimates using manpower, productivity, and installation needs.
• Coordinate with operations and project managers on schedule and resources.
• Create complete bid proposals and maintain records of estimates and results.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and bid reviews.
• Assist with contract review and turnover documentation after award.
