Job summary

Mesabi Metallics is seeking a Mechanical Planner – Pellet Plant to oversee the planning and optimization of pellet plant maintenance for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. You will partner with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure targets are met while upholding safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of planning or maintenance experience in mining or mineral processing.
• Proficient in planning and scheduling software; familiar with pellet plant operations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
• Proven leadership skills and experience in managing cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive production and maintenance plans for the pellet plant, ensuring alignment with overall operational goals and resource availability.
• Create and maintain detailed schedules for pellet plant operations, including equipment usage, personnel assignments, and maintenance activities.
• Analyze operational data to identify trends, performance metrics, and opportunities for improvement; make data-driven recommendations to optimize processes.
• Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and operational teams to coordinate activities, resolve issues, and ensure smooth operations.
• Manage and allocate resources effectively, including manpower, materials, and equipment, to meet production targets.
• Prepare and present regular reports on pellet plant performance, production forecasts, and any deviations from plans to management and stakeholders.
• Ensure all operations adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements, fostering a culture of safety within the team.
• Lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity through process improvements and best practices.
