Job summary

Boston Government Services (BGS) seeks a Mechanical Piping Engineer to support the Advance Energy Business Unit at our Oak Ridge, TN office. Responsibilities include designing high-temperature piping systems, developing layouts, calculations, isometrics, and technical docs.

The role requires a BS in mechanical engineering, experience with high-temperature piping, familiarity with codes, and strong communication and documentation skills. Hybrid in Oak Ridge or remote options are available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience designing or supporting high-temperature piping systems.
  • Knowledge of piping design principles, materials selection, stress considerations, and fabrication methods.
  • Familiarity with applicable piping codes and industry standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Successful drug screening.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.

  • Support engineering reviews, design modifications, and continuous process improvements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience designing or supporting high-temperature piping systems.
  • Knowledge of piping design principles, materials selection, stress considerations, and fabrication methods.
  • Familiarity with applicable piping codes and industry standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Successful drug screening.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting nuclear, national laboratories, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience with piping systems for high-temperature process, thermal, or metallurgical applications.
  • Proficiency with piping design and 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, Plant 3D, or similar.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance, if required.
Location/Work Arrangement
  • Schedule is full-time, Monday - Friday 40-hour week.
  • This position is Hybrid in Oak Ridge, TN, or Remote.
