Job summary

Boston Government Services, LLC. (BGS) is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the Advance Energy Business Unit in Oak Ridge, TN.

The role involves designing high-temperature molten salt vessels, furnaces, and other equipment, with emphasis on safety, quality, and DOE-aligned standards. Responsibilities include creating designs, calculations, fabrication drawings, and documentation; supporting fabrication, testing, installation, and commissioning; and collaborating with cross-functional

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with high-temperature molten salt vessels and/or furnace design.
  • Experience in custom equipment design and fabrication.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for security clearance.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Department of Energy (DOE), nuclear, national laboratory, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience designing equipment for high-temperature process, thermal, or metallurgical applications.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance, if required.

Location/Work Arrangement:

  • Schedule is full-time, Monday - Friday 40-hour week.
  • This position is Hybrid in Oak Ridge, TN, or Remote.
