Kelly Services is seeking a skilled Piping & Mechanical CAD Designer for a remote position with quarterly travel to Wisconsin. You will create high-quality 3D models and 2D drawings for industrial projects, from concept through as-built surveys, collaborating with engineers and site teams.

Bring 7+ years in piping/mechanical CAD, proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD P&ID and Navisworks, and an associate CAD degree. This 6-12 month contract offers full benefits and OT pay.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of piping and mechanical CAD design experience in industrial or energy sectors.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD P&ID and Navisworks.
• Strong MS Office and 3D solid modeling skills.
• Associate degree in CAD Technology or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Attention to detail, organization, and adaptability; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D models and detailed drawings for piping, layouts, and fabrication parts.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers from concept to construction.
• Support proposals with initial layouts and design input.
• Produce P&ID diagrams, general arrangements, skid drawings, and lists.
• Conduct site surveys and as-built verifications; resolve design issues with teams.
• Maintain CAD systems and develop reusable design components.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to training and performance goals.

Job Title: Piping & Mechanical CAD Designer

Location: REMOTE with quarterly travel to Wisconsin

Contract: 6-12 months with potential for permanent hire

Pay Rate: 60-70/hr plus OT pay and FULL BENEFITS

Join a fast-paced engineering team as a Piping & Mechanical CAD Designer , where you'll play a key role in creating high-quality 3D models and 2D drawings that bring complex industrial projects to life. From early design concepts to final as-built surveys, your expertise will directly support engineers, site teams, and project success.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop 3D models and detailed drawings for piping systems, equipment layouts, and fabrication parts.
• Collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to ensure accurate designs from concept through construction.
• Support proposals and pre-tender activities with initial layouts and design input.
• Produce full design deliverables including:
• P&ID diagrams
• General arrangements (plan, elevation, isometric)
• Fabrication and skid drawings
• Equipment and materials lists
• Conduct site surveys and as-built verifications.
• Liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, and site personnel to resolve design issues.
• Maintain CAD systems and develop a library of reusable design components.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to team training and performance goals.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in piping and mechanical CAD design within industrial or energy-related sectors.
• Strong skills in AutoCAD Plant 3D , AutoCAD P&ID , and Navisworks .
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and 3D solid modeling.
• Associate degree in CAD Technology or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and adaptability.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• ADDA (American Design Drafting Association) certification.
• Experience with Revit or Inventor.
