Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Senior Piping Designer to develop and coordinate piping designs for industrial projects from initial layout through construction. The role will own 3D modeling, equipment and piping layouts, construction drawings, field verification, and coordination with engineering and project teams.

The position offers hands-on design responsibilities with AutoCAD Plant 3D and Navisworks, requiring field verification and collaboration across disciplines to resolve clashes and support

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop piping layouts and equipment arrangements using AutoCAD Plant 3D.

• Produce piping plans, orthographic drawings, isometrics, BOMs, and supports.
• Design piping systems per codes and client standards.
• Conduct field walkdowns and verify P&IDs; collect measurements.
• Incorporate point cloud data and use Navisworks for reviews.
• Coordinate deliverables and mentor junior designers.
• Resolve clashes with other engineering disciplines.
• Support construction with RFIs and issued-for-construction drawings.
• Participate in project and client coordination meetings.

Job description

The Senior Piping Designer will develop and coordinate piping designs for industrial projects from initial layout through construction. This position will take ownership of 3D modeling, equipment and piping layouts, construction drawings, field verification, and coordination with engineering and project teams.

Our client is a major industrial EPC firm providing engineering, procurement, and construction management services to process and manufacturing facilities. Their project portfolio spans pulp and paper, chemicals, power, heavy industrial, consumer products, and food and beverage markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop piping layouts and equipment arrangements using AutoCAD Plant 3D
• Create and maintain detailed 3D piping models throughout the project lifecycle
• Produce piping plans, orthographic drawings, isometrics, bills of material, and support details
• Design piping systems in accordance with applicable codes, client specifications, and project standards
• Conduct field walkdowns, verify P&IDs, and collect field measurements for existing facilities
• Incorporate point cloud data and utilize Navisworks for design review and coordination
• Coordinate deliverables and provide direction to other piping designers when required
• Work closely with engineering disciplines to resolve clashes and design issues
• Support construction by responding to RFIs related to issued-for-construction drawings
• Participate in project and client coordination meetings as needed

Profile

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing piping systems for industrial/process facilities
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Plant 3D
• Experience with Navisworks and point cloud data
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and client piping specifications
• Hands-on experience with equipment layouts, facility layouts, piping models, isometrics, and piping supports
• Experience performing field walkdowns and gathering existing-condition measurements
• Ability to lead or coordinate a small piping design team and manage deliverables
• Construction support or construction management experience preferred
• Associate degree in Drafting, Design, or a related discipline preferred
