Mechanical Engineer (HVAC / Plumbing Design)

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a collaborative and technically driven engineering consulting team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex, high-performance building projects while working alongside experienced multidisciplinary professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in HVAC and plumbing design, excellent problem-solving skills, and a desire to grow within a dynamic project environment.

  • Design HVAC systems for complex commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, laboratory, and mission-critical facilities.
  • Design plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, vent, storm, and specialty piping systems.
  • Support fire protection system design and coordination efforts.
  • Perform engineering calculations, system sizing, and technical analyses.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and regulations.
  • Prepare engineering studies and documentation, including:
    • Heating and cooling load calculations
    • Ventilation calculations
    • Air balance analyses
    • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling
    • Duct pressure loss calculations
    • Pump head calculations
    • Energy efficiency and load management studies
  • Develop coordinated construction documents using Revit and other design tools.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout the design process.
  • Communicate project objectives, technical challenges, schedules, and design solutions effectively.
  • Participate in professional development, training, and continuing education opportunities.
  • Support additional project and engineering tasks as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3-7 years of mechanical design experience, preferably within an MEP consulting environment.
  • Experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial or technical facilities.
  • EIT certification preferred but not required.
  • PE license or active pursuit of licensure is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with industry-standard design and analysis software such as Bluebeam, Trace 3D Plus, Pipe-Flo, or similar tools.
  • CFD modeling experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical system design principles and applicable codes.
