Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Michigan is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Leader to optimize highly automated equipment and processes, lead cross-functional teams, and drive data-driven improvements across the plant.

You will implement FPS/Safety OS, advance Six Sigma projects, mentor technicians, and collaborate with multiple departments to ensure reliability, quality and efficiency as the company transforms the automotive industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant manufacturing experience (automotive or battery cell preferred).
  • Fundamental working knowledge of industrial processes, PM planning, and machine safety.
  • Experience with 2D & 3D vision systems for robot guidance, metrology, and identification.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize & Innovate: Provide technical expertise to optimize highly automated manufacturing equipment and processes through systemic approach solutions, automation, and advanced levels of process control.
  • Systems Integration: Manage the interaction between systems, upper-level computers; configure parameters appropriately for varying production loads.
  • PM planning and machine ownership: Review the performance of PM plan and effectiveness using machine data, improvement and constraint reduction of process equipment using Ford Motor Company Operating Systems.
  • KPI tracking and development: Track and improve department KPIs using electronic tools and complex algorithms to solve problems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Use Andon data to prioritize efforts to achieve 100% flow; lead Six Sigma project teams focused on efficiency, quality, and reliability.
  • Technical Collaboration: Act as a bridge on collaboration between different departments to ensure performance of the equipment.
  • Maintenance Support: Establish preventive maintenance plans for the equipment, electrical/controls aspects, and mentor/train technicians to enhance the team’s overall competence.
  • Standards & Safety: Ensure adherence to the Ford Production System (FPS) and Safety Operating System practices to achieve zero injuries.
  • Life Cycle Management: Support feasibility on product design changes and lead modifications, model code updates, and program backups for automation.
