Position Purpose

Inspects, maintains, repairs, and installs mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment at plant and/or pump stations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems; estimate project costs; dismantle and repair equipment; reassemble and test to ensure safe operation.
2. Inspect flow meters, gauges, controls, and diagnose operational issues; take corrective actions and report malfunctions.
3. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment such as pumps, engines, valves, mixers, and disinfection systems; report operational problems.
4. Fabricate devices from steel; weld, thread pipe, and solder as needed.
5. Calibrate instruments like dissolved oxygen meters, pH meters, etc.
6. Perform facility maintenance including repairs and replacements of building components.
7. Conduct manual labor tasks, operate vehicles, and dispose of waste following safety policies.

Additional Activities

1. Maintain parts and spares inventory.
2. Assist in other plant areas and train new personnel.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Work involves outdoor exposure, physical labor, working at heights, and operating various tools and equipment. Must lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces or at heights.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; 2-5 years in a related environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Mechanical aptitude, proficiency with tools and meters, ability to interpret specifications, and effective communication skills.

Certifications and Licenses: Water/wastewater license, valid driver’s license, OSHA/Hazwoper training, and other trade licenses as applicable.
