Job summary

Raycap, Inc. in North Charleston, SC is seeking a Mechanical, Maintenance Technician to install, maintain and repair plant systems. The role focuses on keeping production equipment running safely and efficiently through routine preventive maintenance and timely repairs.

You will read blueprints and diagrams, troubleshoot issues, and perform mechanical tasks with a focus on quality. A mechanical apprenticeship or several years of hands-on experience, good communication, and basic CMMS familiarity

Qualifications

• Completion of mechanical apprenticeship or 5 years combined experience in mechanical field.
• Ability to install new equipment with supplier assistance.
• Good communication skills and time-management.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Basic CMMS knowledge and computer skills.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Read technical diagrams and blueprints; read calipers and dial indicators.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, identify hazards, and repair as needed.

Mechanical, Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:Mechanical technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing systems and equipment within the plant. This position requires use of your mechanical knowledge to ensure the plant’s production equipment operates smoothly and safely. The mechanical tech must perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the plant does not deteriorate.

Job Responsibilities:

• Must be able to: read technical diagrams and blueprints; must be able to read calipers and dial indicators; Must be able to trouble-shoot equipment issues, identify hazards, defects, and make necessary repairs. Electrical skills a plus to assist with electrical issues.

Qualifications:

• Completion of mechanical apprenticeship, or 5 years combined experience working as a mechanic and/or mechanic’s helper I and industrial environment, or technical school training in the mechanical maintenance field with 18 months on the job experience, or military training in the mechanical field.
• Ability to install new equipment with assistance of supplier technicians.
• Applicant must possess good communication skills.
• Must possess good time management skills.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills and experience with maintenance tracking systems (CMMS preferred).
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if applicable).

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand, walk, and move around the production floor for extended periods

Capability to lift and carry materials, tools, or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching to inspect equipment and products

Good vision and hearing to monitor operations and identify issues

Ability to work in environments with exposure to loud noises, vibration, or temperature fluctuations

Use of safety gear such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection as required

Flexibility to work different shifts or overtime to meet production deadlines

• May be required to work evenings, weekends, or be on-call for emergency repairs.
