Job summary

West Fraser, a diversified wood products company, seeks Millwrights to repair and maintain industrial equipment across our mill. You will perform preventative maintenance, move machinery, align components, and install new equipment as part of a safety‑minded, high‑performance team.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, be willing to travel, pass pre‑employment screenings, read drawings, and be prepared for overtime.

Qualifications

  • Must read and understand drawings and printed instructions.
  • Must be safety oriented and compliant with site rules.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check.
  • Must be willing to travel and complete West Fraser Qualified Millwright training.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain industrial equipment including conveying systems and machine centers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to support Just in Time maintenance.
  • Move machinery using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Adjust clearances between moving and stationary parts using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Align pumps, sheaves, and sprockets using hoists, jacks, and precision tools.
  • Assemble and install equipment with hand and power tools.
  • Lay out mounting holes and drill with power drills.
  • Replace defective parts and recalibrate moving parts as needed.
  • Level bedplates and establish centerlines using levels and transit.

Description

Our Millwrights are a key player in a company-wide continuous improvement effort through daily use of troubleshooting, and predictive and preventative maintenance strategies. As a member of this high performing team, you will be responsible for being a team player and working safely with all machinery within the mill.

What you will do:
  • Repair and maintain industrial equipment to include conveying systems, major machine centres such as debarkers, canters, gang saws, and edgers
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure "Just in time" maintenance
  • Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
  • Adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts
  • Align machines such as pumps, sheaves, and sprockets using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb tools
  • Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools
  • Lay out mounting holes, using measuring instruments, and drill holes with power drill
  • Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts
  • Level bedplate and establish centerline, using straightedge, levels, and transit
  • Dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
  • Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit, using hand tools and power tool
What you need to be successful:
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be a self-starter who can work safely under high-pressure situations
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check
  • Must be willing to travel andcomplete the West Fraser Qualified Millwright training program.
  • Must be safety oriented and comply with ZES
  • Able to read and understand drawings and printed instructions
  • Must pass the trade qualifications test
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Willing and able to climb stairs, ladders, or work in elevated areas
  • Willing to work in confined areas
  • Must be able to navigate around tablets to perform documentation of maintenance activities
Skills and experience that will make you stand out:
  • Cutting torch experience (Oxygen/Acetylene)
  • Welding experience (GMAW and SMAW)
