Job summary

OTC Industrial Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Lead to guide technicians and keep critical equipment running. You will work with the Shop Manager to coordinate daily work, disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment.

The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and hands-on support, with opportunities to read blueprints and OEM manuals, troubleshoot complex issues, and lead a small team on-site at customer locations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; technical training or certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on rotating equipment repair experience.
  • 1–2+ years of lead or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pumps and rotating equipment, fits, tolerances, alignment, and repair practices.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators).
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, OEM manuals, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with API, ANSI, and OEM standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Shop Manager in coordinating daily work and keeping the team aligned on priorities, goals, and job requirements.
  • Perform and oversee disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and assist with root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to technicians throughout the repair process.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, OEM manuals, mechanical schematics, and repair specifications.
  • Verify measurements, fits, tolerances, alignment, and repair quality using precision measuring tools.
  • Ensure repair findings, measurements, tolerances, parts used, and completed work are properly documented.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment while ensuring compliance with company and industry safety standards.

What You'll Need

  • Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites as needed.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work safely in shop and field environments, including occasional overtime or on‑call work based on business needs.
