Job description

Job Summary:The Mechanical Laborer is responsible for performing a wide range of manual operating and maintenance duties. This position is responsible for various oilfield services, including new well construction, maintenance, and other roustabout work. Laborers use a variety of tools and equipment that may include (but may not be limited to) tractors, trucks, trailers, and maintenance equipment. Duties include (but may not be limited to) digging trenches, pouring concrete, installing/repairing fencing, laying, threading, and fitting pipe. Facilities and other general well site construction items are to be performed according to site plans by installing and using valves, pumps, separators, fittings, and other oilfield-related equipment. Construct barrier walls, compressor sheds, fences, and other general construction items for well sites. Assemble or repair pipelines, flow lines, discharge lines, and plumb in all devices. Rig, and assist in setting loads, separators, or tanks being moved by cranes or hydraulic lifts. Perform location cleanup, maintenance, and other housekeeping tasks as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Safely perform dirt work that includes ground maintenance, building pads, and repairing dikes.

  • Install and repair piping, valves, pumps, motor belts, tank batteries, and other miscellaneous tasks assigned while on location. Set pumping units, batteries, and treaters, maintenance work on wells, pumping units, and treaters

  • General work location cleanup.

  • Regularly cleans, inspects, and maintains company vehicle and all other equipment that may be assigned by collaborating closely with mechanics/supervisors

  • Secure and safely transports equipment needed for the job, according to company policy, DOT regulations, and any other regulations that apply

  • Responsible for utilizing all required safety and work equipment necessary, as well as making sure all equipment and PPE is inspected and regularly cleaned or maintained for proper function and safe use

  • Responsible for attending and participating in Job Safety Analysis and Pre-Job Safety Meetings regarding hazards when arriving at a work location - prior to starting each job

  • Responsible for properly completing and submitting Field Tickets or other documents showing work time and job performed

  • Communicates effectively and regularly with roustabout crew pusher and field management regarding jobs, hazards, needs, other employees, etc.

  • Comply with all company and location Safety/DOT policies to work safely in a potentially hazardous environment.

Required Skills & Abilities:


  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, and mechanical needs. Fitting pipe, hammering, wrenching, leveling, measuring, digging, cutting, and general cleaning duties.

  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment, ensuring that it is functioning and operating properly

  • Ensuring quality products and services are provided to the customer

  • Knowledge of equipment and tools commonly used in the oil gas industry

  • Basic math knowledge used in common calculations

  • Must be professional and motivated to complete all tasks assigned and possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Must possess the ability to safely operate all vehicles and equipment involved in roustabout work

  • Must have working knowledge and the ability to use computers and software such as Microsoft Office, email, timekeeping programs, invoicing, etc.

  • While performing this job's duties, the employee must be able to effectively communicate with other employees, managers, and all other relevant third parties involved with the jobs performed. This includes (but may not be limited to) typing, speaking, reading, writing, and hearing.

Education & Experience:

Basic


  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • The ability to work independently and part of a team.

  • Basic understanding of industrial/facilities construction processes

  • Basic understanding of Construction/Roustabout tools and procedures

Education & Experience:

Preferred


  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Minimum 1-2 years of oil and gas operations experience.

  • Experience working as laborer, including proficiency with all types of tools and equipment.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of DOT regulations.

  • Ability to obtain a valid Class A CDL

Physical Requirements

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job (but are not limited to). The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time, unassisted. The incumbent must wear a respirator when required. Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate industrial machinery are required. This job also requires a full range of body motion to include handling and lifting. The incumbent must repeatedly lift and/or move up to 65 (SIXTY-FIVE) pounds unassisted. Visual acuity, hearing, speaking, reading, and writing must be adequate to perform all required tasks safely.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Work is usually done outdoors and sometimes at a client facility or job site and is frequently performed in inclement and/or extreme weather conditions. The incumbent is exposed to moving electricity, mechanical parts, vehicles, equipment, and hazardous materials. This position regularly requires long work hours and frequent weekend work.
