Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Intern to gain real-world experience within our Building Engineering Services Group. You will assist in drafting HVAC ductwork, piping layouts, and plumbing systems, and perform calculations under supervision.

You will learn industry software, collaborate with engineers and project managers, and connect with mentors through our young professionals programs while pursuing an engineering degree.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
  • Pursuing Mechanical or Architectural Engineering degree with strong academics.
  • GPA 3.0 or higher preferred when applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Draft HVAC ductwork, piping layouts, and plumbing systems.
  • Perform calculations using industry software.
  • Assist under supervision of a professional engineer or Project Manager.
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Participate in mentoring and young professionals programs.

In the role of Mechanical Intern, we'll count on you to:

  • Gain real-world experience on exciting projects in the HVAC and plumbing industry.
  • Assist in drafting HVAC ductwork, piping layouts, and plumbing systems.
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures and run calculations using industry software.
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional engineer or Project Manager.
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professional’s programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
  • 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA. Strong communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Revit, Bluebeam, IESVE, and Microsoft Office tools preferred, but not required.

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program

  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
