Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Intern to gain real-world experience in HVAC and plumbing projects. You will assist with drafting ductwork, piping layouts, and plumbing systems under the supervision of a professional engineer or project manager.

A strong team mindset and active participation in our employee-owned culture are essential. Preferred students are pursuing Mechanical or Architectural Engineering or related fields, with at least 2 years of progress toward the degree and a GPA of 3.0+.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
  • Minimum 2 years completed toward degree with a 3.0+ GPA.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Active participant in an employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Gain real-world experience on HVAC and plumbing projects.

In the role of Mechanical Intern, we'll count on you to:

Gain real-world experience on exciting projects in the HVAC and plumbing industry.

Assist in drafting HVAC ductwork, piping layouts, and plumbing systems.

Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures and run calculations using industry software.

Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional engineer or Project Manager.

Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professional’s programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.

2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA. Strong communication skills and willingness to work in a team environment.

Basic knowledge of Revit, Bluebeam, IESVE, and Microsoft Office tools preferred, but not required.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
