Job summary

LVI Associates is seeking a Mechanical Insulation Estimator to join our Northern Virginia team in Ashburn, VA. The role focuses on taking off quantities, pricing strategies, and collaboration with vendors and subcontractors to support successful project bids.

The ideal candidate will have strong reading of drawings, proficient use of estimation software, and a background in mechanical insulation or related construction environments, with opportunities for growth and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings and specs.
• Excellent communication and customer-relations skills.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Ability to interpret project schedules, sequencing, and durations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs for mechanical insulation projects.
• Develop labor productivity estimates and project budgets.
• Obtain competitive pricing from vendors and suppliers.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor proposals where required.
• Review project plans, specs, schedules, and bid documents.
• Assess project risks and determine pricing strategies.
• Participate in internal bid reviews and estimating meetings.
• Build and maintain client/industry relationships.
• Utilize wage and benefit schedules during estimating.
• Support project turnover meetings with operations teams upon award.
• Assist with change order pricing and cost analysis.
• Collaborate with estimators and project teams across units.
