Job summary

Performance Contracting is seeking an experienced Mechanical Insulation Estimator for its PCI Madison 574 operations based in Sun Prairie, WI. This individual will create comprehensive estimates for bidding prospective mechanical insulation work.

Key duties include takeoffs, labor productivity estimates, vendor pricing, subcontractor pricing, bid reviews, and ensuring accurate specifications and drawings are reflected in the estimate.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years' experience estimating construction projects
• Experience estimating or managing specialty scopes of construction
• Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI's scopes of work
• Record of establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills
• Attention to cost analysis skills
• Ability to read project schedules to determine sequencing and durations of scopes of work
• Proficiency with takeoff/estimating software and MS Office
• Ability to work effectively in a team or independently
• Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Hand off secured projects to Operations Team
• Assist in change orders and billings as needed
• Support Estimating team for product line collaboration

Performance Contracting is seeking an experienced Mechanical Insulation Estimator for its PCI Madison 574 operations based in Sun Prairie, WI. This individual will create comprehensive estimates for bidding prospective mechanical insulation work.

Job responsibilities include:

• Perform quantitative takeoffs on construction projects
• Establish labor productivities for estimate
• Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing
• Solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self-performing group
• Understand the market conditions including competitive approach, backlog, level or risk for work, and other factors for establishing margin percentages
• Involvement in internal bid reviews with supervisors and project teams
• Participate in customer alignment objectives by creating and maintaining positive customer relations
• Contract administration for secured projects
• Utilize wage and benefit schedules
• Hand off secured projects to the Operations Team
• Assist in other duties as assigned such as change order management or billings depending on the project(s)
• Support other members of the Estimating team for product line collaboration

This position is safety-sensitive.

Salary range: $75,000-$101,000 annual salary plus non-guaranteed annualized bonus program.

Basic Requirements

• Must have at least 3-5 years' experience estimating construction projects
• Experience with estimating or managing specialty scopes of construction
• Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI's scopes of work, specifications, materials, and methods
• Has a record of establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills
• Possess a high level of attention to detail and cost analysis skills
• Ability to accurately read project schedules to determine sequencing and durations of scopes of work
• Proficiency with computer takeoff and estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (e.g., Excel, Word), Bluebeam Revu, Procore, or PlanSwift
• Must have a sharp understanding of estimating techniques and the bidding process
• Ability to work effectively both in a collaborative team environment and independently
• Ability to learn new skills by engaging in technical job functions and applying new skills as they’re learned
• Possess critical-thinking and problem-solving skills

Preferred Requirements

Multiple years' experience estimating mechanical insulation on non-residential construction projects is highly preferred

• Multiple years' experience estimating mechanical insulation on non-residential construction projects is highly preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or related discipline
• OSHA certification
• Local to the Madison, WI area preferred
