Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years experience in related mechanical work classifications or equivalent.
• Registered as a Mechanical Inspector in the State of Michigan or eligible for provisional certification.
• Proven ability to review plans and inspect construction for code compliance.
• Valid Michigan driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Enforce the Eaton County Mechanical Code by reviewing plans for proposed projects and performing inspections during construction.
• Process and investigate mechanical code violations and issue stop work orders as required.
• Review permits for compliance with state and county codes; respond to inquiries from the public, builders and officials.
• Prepare reports and assist in legal actions for code enforcement; testify as needed.
