Job summary

FM Industries, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Inspector for the 2nd shift in Phoenix, AZ.

The role focuses on precision mechanical inspection of machined parts and incoming materials to verify conformance to specifications, using calibrated measuring equipment and visual inspection, and interpreting drawings and work instructions. The candidate will inspect first-off parts, collect measurement data for FAI reports, and provide data for critical FIRs, requiring basic blueprint reading and shop

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of in-process and final inspection experience in machining, automotive, or aerospace
• Basic GD&T knowledge
• Ability to use basic measuring tools listed (caliper, micrometer, gauge blocks, thread gauges)

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible forperforming precision mechanical inspection of machined parts and incoming materials to verify compliance to specification. Ensuring conformance requirements using calibrated measuring equipment and visual inspection. Interpreting customer drawings and specifications, and reference company work instructions and process travelers.

• Basic blueprint reading & shop math (Trigonometry)
• Inspect first off parts from manufacturing work centers
• Collect measurement data for use in First Article Inspection (FAI) reports
• Collect and provide data required for critical part Final Inspection Reports (FIRs)

Qualifications:

• 0-2 years’ experience performing in-process and final inspection preferably in a machining, automotive or aerospace business
• Basic knowledge of GD&T preferred
• CMM operation experience preferred
• Ability to correctly use and interpret basic measuring tools including weight gauge, micrometer, caliper scale (linear), gauge blocks, thread gauges, and comparative standards
