Job summary

Amazon Prime Air is seeking a Mechanical Hardware Development Engineer to advance drone avionics hardware. You will develop, mature and document designs, test components and collaborate with vendors to support manufacturing.

Candidates should have a BS in mechanical engineering and 4+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with CAD proficiency; DO-160 and aerospace hardware experience are a plus.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in manual testing, test planning, and creating detailed test cases.
  • Experience with CAD software for design, drafting, and product lifecycle management.

  • Oversee and participate in testing and qualifying mechanical subsystems including DO-160.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the development of Prime Air drone avionics hardware and related systems. In this role you will be working to develop, mature and document designs, test and qualify avionics components, and work with external vendors to support manufacturing.

Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon's ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf

Key job responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical design of new components for the program.
  • Develop hardware and component level requirements/specifications.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD software for use in design, drafting, and product lifecycle management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
  • Experience in electronics and/or aerospace hardware.
  • CATIA/ENOVIA experience.
  • DO-160 qualification and aerospace formal verification experience.
  • Experience with requirements development and documentation.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
