Job summary

Dematic is seeking a Mechanical Foreman to lead mechanical installation projects across North America. You will supervise installation crews, coordinate work plans, ensure safety, and deliver projects on time and within budget.

This hands-on leadership role requires planning, troubleshooting, and close collaboration with project management. Travel is required 100% to customer sites across the United States.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus.
  • 2–5 years installing/maintaining conveyor or material handling equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned mechanical installation tasks safely and efficiently as directed by supervision.
  • Plan conveyor layouts and pre-assemble sections for on-site installation.
  • Lead installation of header steel, platforms, and structural elements.
  • Ensure on-site safety for self and others.
  • Install conveyors, guardrails, and rack systems with attention to alignment.
  • Perform detailed installation tasks and run-in checks before commissioning.
  • Mentor and train less experienced personnel on site.
  • Meet jobsite physical demands, including lifting 50 lbs and navigating large sites.

As a Mechanical Foreman, you will lead mechanical installation projects at customer sites across North America. The Mechanical Foreman is responsible for overseeing installation crews, coordinating work assignments, ensuring high-quality workmanship, maintaining safety standards, and completing projects on time and within budget. This hands‑on leadership role requires planning, team guidance, troubleshooting, and close collaboration with project management to deliver successful mechanical system installations.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $50,800 to $69,850 salary at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

What you will do in this Role:
  • Complete assigned mechanical installation tasks safely and efficiently as advised by site supervision
  • Conveyor System Layout & Pre-Assembly: Plan and complete conveyor layouts, verify component fit, and pre-assemble conveyor sections for efficient on‑site installation
  • Header Steel, Platform, & Structural Steel Installation: Lead installation of structural elements, including header steel, platforms, and other steel frameworks to ensure mechanical systems are securely and accurately installed
  • Take personal responsibility for your safety and the safety of others on‑site
  • Conveyor Installation, Guardrail, & Rack Systems: Install conveyors, safety guardrails, and racking systems with attention to alignment, structural integrity, and operational efficiency
  • Equipment Detailing & Run‑In Activities: Perform detailed installation tasks, validate mechanical assemblies, and conduct initial run‑in testing to confirm accurate function before commissioning
  • Provide mentorship, basic training, and support to less experienced personnel
  • Physically handle jobsite demands, including lifting at least 50 lbs, pushing, pulling, squatting, crawling, and walking across large construction sites in various climates and conditions
What we are looking for:
  • High School diploma or equivalent work experience; technical degree or specialized training preferred but not required
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience installing and/or maintaining conveyor or material handling equipment
  • Travel 100% to customer sites across the United States, using your personal vehicle
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Coordinate daily work activities, assigning tasks and supervise daily progress
  • Conduct daily Tool Box talks, maintain safety documentation as well as Gensuite audits and ensure compliance with safety laws, site policies and company standards. Will need to acquire OSHA 30 certification upon hire
  • Coordinate with internal project teams, General Contractors and other trades
  • Ability to lead small to intermediate groups of teams composed of a diverse set of backgrounds and capabilities
  • Ability to detect and resolve technical issues with existing systems and/or work being performed
