Job summary

Uhl Company, a Maple Grove-based construction firm, seeks a Mechanical Estimator / Project Manager to prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. The role requires experience with hydronic systems and a solid grasp of design-build processes, including plan/spec work.

Responsibilities include detailed takeoffs, bid proposals, vendor coordination, site visits, and potential value engineering.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in estimating HVAC / hydronic systems.
• Design-Build experience required, Plan and Spec experience a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of mechanical codes, standards, and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.
• Perform material and labor takeoffs and coordinate with vendors/subcontractors for pricing.
• Manage projects and assist others as time allows.

Job Title: Mechanical Estimator / Project Manager

Position Overview

This role is responsible for preparing correct and competitive estimates for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.

• Experience with commercial Hydronic Systems, HVAC Systems
• A strong understanding of hydronic design and installation practices
• Design-Build experience required, Plan and Spec experience a plus
• Ability to analyze project plans, specifications, and scope documents
• Perform material and labor takeoffs for others as time allows
• Project Management of your projects and for others as time allows
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals
• Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing
• Take part in pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed
• Aid in value engineering and cost-saving strategies.

Position Requirements

• Must pass background check and have a valid driver's license
• Advanced customer service and relationship building skills
• Strong multi-tasking skills with high level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Flexibility and adaptability to change
• Work in office with site visits as needed
• Ability to work well with others
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawing and specifications
• 2+ years of experience in estimating HVAC / hydronic systems *
• Strong understanding of mechanical system design and implementation
• Strong understanding of mechanical codes, standards, and construction practices
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills

Working Condition / Physical Requirements

Office environment: Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping

Ideal candidate

• Past field experience in commercial HVAC service or construction
• Ability to think out of the box to find custom solutions
• Ability to build and maintain customers with honesty
