Job summary

frēijē Engineered Solutions Company is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to prepare cost estimates for mechanical construction projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems. You will review drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, prepare labor and material costs, and coordinate with PMs, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors.

This role requires attention to detail and timely bid submission. You will maintain estimating data, develop competitive bids, and identify cost-saving opportunities

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical construction estimating or a related field.
• Knowledge of HVAC, piping, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and meet strict deadlines.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and project documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and material estimates.
• Prepare labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead cost estimates.
• Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Develop competitive bids and proposals for projects.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Identify project requirements, exclusions, risks, and potential cost savings.
• Maintain estimating databases, pricing information, and historical cost records.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits when required.
• Assist with project handoff to the operations/project management team.
• Ensure estimates are accurate, complete, and submitted within bid deadlines.
