Job summary

Kintec Search is seeking an HVAC Mechanical Estimator in Secaucus, NJ for a full-time onsite role. You will own detailed piping estimates, from drawings and takeoffs through pricing, development of scope and bid packages, working directly with senior leadership.

The ideal candidate has hands-on HVAC piping estimating experience, strong Excel skills, and a commitment to onsite work in Secaucus. Five+ years in HVAC estimation and familiarity with Trimble AutoBid Mechanical are preferred, with

Secaucus, NJ | $100,000–$130,000 base + bonus eligibility

Full-time onsite | Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Join an established mechanical contractor with the resources of a major publicly traded parent company, a busy project portfolio and access to professional training and certifications.

We are recruiting an HVAC Mechanical Estimator to join an experienced team delivering projects across New Jersey, including data centers, hospitals, financial institutions and other complex commercial facilities.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of detailed estimates, work directly with the Chief Estimator and senior HVAC leadership, and develop your expertise within a well‑established construction business.

The opportunity

You will prepare competitive HVAC piping estimates, taking projects from drawing review and quantity takeoffs through labour and material pricing, scope development and completed bid packages.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and bid documents to establish scope and identify gaps.
• Completing detailed HVAC piping takeoffs using computerised estimating software.
• Developing labour, material, equipment and subcontractor costs.
• Obtaining and reviewing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Preparing proposals, scope letters, budgets and bid packages.
• Attending site visits and pre-bid meetings, and supporting project handovers and change pricing.

Experience Required

Three requirements are essential:

- Hands‑on HVAC piping estimating experience. You have personally prepared takeoffs, pricing and bids for systems such as chilled water, heating hot water, steam or condenser water. Plumbing or sheet metal experience is welcome alongside this, but HVAC piping must be a meaningful part of your background.

- Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency. You confidently build and modify estimating spreadsheets, use formulas and lookup functions, analyse costs and check your work for accuracy. You should be comfortable discussing practical examples of your Excel capabilities.

- Commitment to working onsite in Secaucus. This position is office‑based, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Ideally, you will have five or more years of relevant HVAC estimating experience strong attention to detail and the ability to manage bids independently while collaborating with an established team.

Experience with Trimble AutoBid Mechanical is preferred. Candidates proficient in comparable mechanical estimating software are encouraged to apply; AutoBid training can be provided. Bluebeam Revu experience is also valuable.
