Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and bid proposals for construction and retrofit projects.

• Prepare pricing for change orders, budget updates, and alternative system options.

Salary Rate: $120,000 - $150,000

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Mechanical Estimator to join our growing team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, retrofit, and design-build opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop complete and accurate cost estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations.
• Develop conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and bid proposals for construction and retrofit projects.
• Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontract costs.
• Identify project risks, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities.
• Participate in preconstruction planning, estimate reviews, and bid strategy meetings.
• Collaborate with project managers, field operations, engineering, and business development teams.
• Prepare pricing for change orders, budget updates, and alternative system options.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and productivity metrics.
• Support design-build and negotiated project pursuits from conceptual planning through final proposal submission.
• Ensure estimates align with contract requirements, project schedules, and client expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of mechanical estimating experience in commercial, institutional, industrial, or mission-critical environments.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical construction systems.
• Proficiency with estimating software, takeoff tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and BIM models.
• Understanding of labor productivity, equipment pricing, and construction means and methods.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
