Responsibilities include preparing detailed estimates for commercial, government, and institutional projects, developing takeoffs, reviewing drawings, and soliciting subcontractor pricing while ensuring profitability.

• Analyze plans to identify scope requirements, exclusions, and risks.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Develop competitive bids while maintaining project profitability.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and verify material and equipment requirements.
• Estimate labor hours and productivity based on scope and data.
• Prepare bid summaries and supporting documentation.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.
• Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, engineers, customers, and internal teams.
• Identify value-engineering opportunities and alternatives.
• Assist with estimating change orders and scope changes.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Engineers, and Busi­ness Development teams.
• Maintain organized estimating records and project cost history.
• Stay current on pricing, methods, and industry trends.
• Ensure estimates are completed accurately within deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality on sensitive information.

Martin J. Braun Mechanical Contractors, a Fidelity Building Services Group company, is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our growing team. We are looking for an estimator with 5+ years of experience in commercial mechanical construction and a strong background estimating HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial, government, and institutional mechanical construction projects.
• Develop accurate material, equipment, labor, and subcontractor takeoffs for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
• Review architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and piping drawings, specifications, schedules, and other construction documents.
• Analyze project plans and specifications to identify scope requirements, discrepancies, exclusions, and potential risks.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Develop competitive and accurate bids while maintaining project profitability.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and verify material and equipment requirements.
• Estimate labor hours and productivity based on project scope and historical data.
• Prepare detailed bid summaries and supporting documentation.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as needed.
• Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, engineers, customers, and internal teams to clarify project requirements.

• Stay current on material pricing, labor costs, construction methods, and industry trends.
• Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all requirements associated with projects involving sensitive or classified information.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience in commercial, industrial, institutional, or government construction.
• Strong estimating experience across HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, plans, and construction documents.
• Ability and experience building an estimate for Design-Build renovation projects.
• Ability and experience to develop an estimate based on a Scope of Work only.
• Experience writing detailed Scopes of Work and proposals.
• Ability and experience identifying and incorporating clarifications, exclusions, and exceptions in proposals.
• Strong understanding of mechanical construction methods, materials, equipment, and labor requirements.
• Experience performing detailed material and labor takeoffs.
• Experience obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and vendor pricing.
• Strong understanding of construction costs, productivity, and project scheduling.
• Proficiency with mechanical estimating software.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to handle and organize multiple bid projects at the same time and quickly estimate smaller projects.
• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with project teams.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
• Ability to pass applicable background and security requirements.

• Base Pay: $80-100+ Commensurate with experience. This range represents a general guideline; however, several factors are considered when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
