Job summary

Lincoln Electric's Michigan City, IN facility offers a 12-month immersive Engineering Trainee Program that combines hands-on product design, development, and testing with mentorship and real-world manufacturing exposure.

You'll work with experienced engineers to design vehicle-mounted air compressors, welders, and other custom equipment, participate in Immersion Day at Cleveland HQ, and develop skills across mechanical systems and leadership.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or having achieved a bachelor's degree in engineering by June 2027.
• Eligible to work in the U.S. on a full-time, permanent basis without sponsorship.
• Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Chemical, Industrial, Material Science, Welding, Packaging, Metallurgy, or Computer Science degrees preferred.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Machine or system design.
• Create detailed design specifications, manufacturing instructions, assembly drawings, and testing protocols.
• Testing of prototype equipment.
• Execute quality control processes to resolve production problems.
• Develop new consumables through applied research.
• Assist in the design and implementation of safety mechanisms and controls for industrial machinery.
