Job summary

Lincoln Electric’s Michigan City, IN facility offers a 12-month Engineering Development Program designed to bridge academia with hands-on product design, development, and testing for mobile power solutions. You will work with experienced engineers to support design improvements on compressors, generators, welders, and other custom products.

Participants receive immersion days at the Cleveland, OH headquarters and travel arrangements covered by Lincoln Electric.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (or engineering technology) by June 2027.
• Eligible to work in the U.S. on a full-time, permanent basis without sponsorship.
• Engineering disciplines preferred: Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Chemical, Industrial, Material Science, Welding, Packaging, Metallurgy, Computer Science.

Overview of the Program

Vanair’s Engineering Trainee Program offers hands-on experience in product design, development, and testing within a leading manufacturer of Mobile Power Solutions. Participants will work alongside experienced engineers to support the design and improvement of vehicle-mounted air compressors, generators, welders, and other custom products. This program is ideal for individuals passionate about mechanical systems, innovation, and real‑world engineering applications. This position requires participation in our Immersion Day at our Cleveland, OH headquarters during one of your first few weeks. Lincoln Electric will provide and cover all travel arrangements and expenses.

Basic Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• An engineering degree in any of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Chemical, Industrial, Material Science, Welding, Packaging, Metallurgy, Computer Science.
• Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
• Desire to work in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
