Job summary

Hutchinson recruits a hands-on engineering-oriented individual to support Operations in bringing new equipment online and in developing processes for new product industrialization. You will work under Manufacturing Engineers to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality targets are met while building prototypes and early release parts.

  • Experience using non-powered hand tools: wrenches, torque wrenches, screwdrivers, mallets.
  • Experience reading mechanical drawings; comfortable with imperial/metric units.
  • Experience using basic measurement instruments: rulers, calipers, thermometers, height gauges, thread gauges, stopwatch.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Exposure to electronically controlled equipment and robots.
  • Experience using MS Excel or similar tools.
  • Action-oriented with strong communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ISO/IATF/AS environment experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee trial builds with Operations/Manufacturing to bring new equipment online under guidance of Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Assist process development for industrialization of new products to meet safety, capability, costs, and cycle time targets via prototypes and early release parts.
  • Support Continuous Improvement by recording trials, pass/fail rates, machine performance, and cycle time.
  • Document work through writing and photography for reports and work instruction creation.
  • Collaborate with other departments on safety, quality, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Assist Operator training.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Assist Operations/Manufacturing in bringing new equipment, tooling, and technology online through overseeing trial builds under the guidance of Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers with process development for the industrialization of new products to achieve program safety, process capability, labor and materials costs, and cycle time targets through the building of prototypes and early release parts.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineer with Continuous Improvement initiatives, which may include recording and tracking of trials and early-stage pass/fail rates, machine performance, and cycle time.
  • Document, through writing and photographing, the work performed to be used for reporting, writing and work instruction creation
  • Collaborative participation with other departments in facility-wide Safety, Quality, and general waste reduction problem-solving activities
  • Assist Operator training
