Job summary

Hutchinson in Hopkinton, MA, seeks an Operations/Manufacturing assistant to help bring new equipment online, support process development, and participate in continuous improvement projects. You will document work, support safety and quality initiatives, and assist with operator training.

The ideal candidate embraces hands-on work, can read drawings in imperial/metric units, and has experience with basic measurement tools and MS Excel.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates safety-first mindset and PPE use.
• Able to read mechanical drawings in imperial and metric units.
• Experience with non-powered hand tools (wrenches, torque wrenches, screwdrivers, mallets).
• Proficient with basic measurement tools (rulers, calipers, thermometers, height gauges, thread gauges).
• Strong math skills and basic spreadsheet/record-keeping ability (MS Excel).
• Exposure to electronics-controlled equipment and robots.

Responsibilities

• Assist Operations/Manufacturing in bringing new equipment online and oversee trial builds under Manufacturing Engineers guidance.
• Assist Manufacturing Engineers with process development for industrialization of new products; build prototypes and early release parts.
• Assist Engineering with Continuous Improvement; record trials, pass/fail rates, machine performance, and cycle time.
• Document work with writing and photos for reporting and instruction creation.
• Collaborate with other departments on Safety, Quality, and waste reduction activities.
• Assist Operator training.

Job description

• Assist Operations/Manufacturing in bringing new equipment, tooling, and technology online through overseeing trial builds under the guidance of Manufacturing Engineers.
• Assist Manufacturing Engineers with process development for the industrialization of new products to achieve program safety, process capability, labor and materials costs, and cycle time targets through the building of prototypes and early release parts.
• Assist Manufacturing Engineer with Continuous Improvement initiatives, which may include recording and tracking of trials and early-stage pass/fail rates, machine performance, and cycle time.
• Document, through writing and photographing, the work performed to be used for reporting, writing and work instruction creation
• Collaborative participation with other departments in facility-wide Safety, Quality, and general waste reduction problem-solving activities
• Assist Operator training

• U.S. Citizenship Required; experience working in an ISO/IATF/AS environment
