Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Columbus, IN is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technical Support Specialist to support engineering teams in testing and development of engines and components.

You will disassemble, assemble, configure data acquisition systems, analyze data, prepare reports, and participate in safety and quality programs while interfacing with customers, suppliers, and other functions.

Qualifications

• Experience with engine disassembly and assembly.
• Familiarity with data acquisition systems.
• Ability to read prints and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Disassembles and rebuilds production and experimental engines and components, measures and records data.
• Configures and operates data acquisition systems; analyzes data for appropriateness.
• Installs engines and components in test cells or test rigs.
• Fabricates piping, tubing, and brackets from prints and drawings.
• Diagnoses engine and test cell problems.
• Performs preventative maintenance on engines, test cells or test rigs.
• Executes work requests and reports results in a specific format.
• Supports technicians and engineers as required.
• Understands and applies company and department rules and guidelines.
• Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers and other functions.
• Participates in maintenance of quality procedures.
• Participates in improvement projects.
• Develops and gives presentations to customers and suppliers.
• Maintains cleanliness within the workplace.
• Knows and complies with departmental safety policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates confidentiality as required.
• Participates in self- and team-audits and associated corrective action.
• Performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to get the job done.
