IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering New Graduate in Seattle, WA. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience with mentorship, training, and growth opportunities from day one.

You will support mechanical systems design for hospitality, mixed-use, government, and MEP projects, while collaborating with engineers, consultants, and project managers to deliver high-performance, energy-efficient solutions aligned with IMEG standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in producing technical plans and specifications.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills related to thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
  • Experience with engineering software including HVAC load calculation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems, developing detailed designs and calculations per code and IMEG standards.
  • Interact with clients to understand needs, gather requirements, and communicate technical information.
  • Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
  • Support project execution as part of a project team and help meet deadlines.
  • Assist with project planning and scheduling tasks to meet objectives.
  • Document design decisions and monitor progress with senior engineers.
  • Analyze low to medium complexity tasks and propose practical solutions with senior staff.
  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet standards.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
  • Prioritize safety and mitigate risks in mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.

IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering New Graduate in Seattle, WA. This entry‑level role offers hands‑on design, analysis, and project execution experience, with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow your expertise from day one. You will support the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems for the vertical building industry.

In this role, you will support project execution while working within project budgets, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, and helping deliver solutions that meet project goals and client expectations across hospitality, mixed use, government, and MEP work. You will work closely with experienced engineers, consultants, architects, and project managers while advancing high‑performance, energy‑efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do
  • Assist in the design and analysis of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems, using engineering software and tools to develop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively
  • Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
  • Support the execution of consulting projects as part of a project team
  • Assist with project planning and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives
  • Document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress
  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks, propose innovative solutions, and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions
  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals

What You’ll Bring

Education
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics as it relates to mechanical systems design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for buildings
  • Knowledge of industry standard engineering software and tools including HVAC load calculation software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
  • Basic knowledge in the use of BIM software.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays
Preferred
  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
  • Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification preferred

  • Recurring mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology scope, with additional support in energy modeling, commissioning, telecom, security, and architectural lighting on larger coordinated efforts
  • Particular strength in urban residential developments, mixed‑use projects, transportation and access improvements, parks, school district work, and hospitality renovations
  • Recent work includes Overlake East Phase I, Housing / Multi‑family, and Sound Transit Auburn Station Parking & Access Improvement, Transportation

State of Washington Salary Range: $75,000-$79,000 per year

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.

Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
