The position will lead a team of approximately 10 mechanical engineers responsible for designing and developing sophisticated custom automated machinery and special-purpose equipment.
We are specifically seeking someone with a strong technical foundation in custom machine design, not simply manufacturing plant engineering or traditional product development.
Key Responsibilities

- Provide technical direction and oversight for custom automated machinery projects from concept through installation.
- Review mechanical designs, calculations, drawings, component selections and bills of materials.
- Establish and improve engineering standards, design processes and reusable component libraries.
- Collaborate with Controls Engineering, Manufacturing, Assembly and Project Management to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage engineering resources, project priorities, schedules and technical deliverables.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering efficiency, design quality and department performance.
- Foster a collaborative, hands-on engineering culture focused on technical excellence and accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience preferred, with significant hands-on experience designing custom automated machinery or special-purpose equipment.
- Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD software. SolidWorks strongly preferred.
- Ability to independently evaluate complex mechanical designs and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
- Strong understanding of mechanical components, machine design principles, manufacturing processes, materials and tolerancing.
- Experience developing engineering standards, improving design processes and implementing reusable design solutions.
- Previous engineering leadership or management experience preferred, but not required for exceptional senior-level designers with demonstrated leadership potential.
- Ability to work on-site in the Greater Cleveland, Ohio area.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Lead a talented engineering team working on technically challenging, highly customized automation projects.
- Join a growing, privately held organization with a collaborative culture and minimal corporate bureaucracy.
- Opportunity to influence engineering standards, processes and the long-term development of the department.
- Competitive benefits and relocation assistance for qualified candidates.
- Excellent opportunity for a Lead or Principal Mechanical Engineer ready to advance into management.
We welcome experienced engineering managers as well as senior technical leaders looking to take the next step in their careers.
