Job summary

Genuine Search Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop custom automation and machine tool systems from concept through production. You will work with controls engineers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and customers to deliver reliable, manufacturable solutions that meet performance, cost, and schedule goals.

The role requires hands-on experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor) and a strong background in machining and assembly.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience designing and developing custom automated machinery or machine tools.
• Strong understanding of machining, fabrication, assembly methods, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor) and DFA/DFM principles.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom automated machinery, machine tools, fixtures, and mechanical systems.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and milestones.
• Apply DFA principles to improve manufacturability, assembly, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Perform mechanical calculations, component sizing, tolerance analysis, and system layout development.
• Select mechanical components including motors, gearboxes, bearings, actuators, and motion systems.
• Collaborate with controls engineers to integrate sensors, robotics, and automation hardware.
• Support machine build, assembly, testing, and customer acceptance activities.
• Work with suppliers and internal teams to resolve technical and production issues.
• Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Mechanical Engineer – Custom Automation & Machine Tool Design

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our growing custom automation and machine tool team. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex mechanical challenges, and has a strong background designing automated machinery from concept through production.

The successful candidate will work on multiple concurrent projects involving custom automation systems, machine tools, robotic integration, and manufacturing equipment. You will collaborate closely with controls engineers, manufacturing teams, project managers, suppliers, and customers to develop reliable, manufacturable solutions that meet performance, cost, and schedule requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom automated machinery, machine tools, fixtures, and mechanical systems
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and project milestones
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to improve manufacturability, assembly, reliability, and cost efficiency
• Perform mechanical calculations, component sizing, tolerance analysis, and system layout development

• Collaborate with controls engineers to integrate sensors, robotics, motion systems, and automation hardware

• Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience designing and developing custom automated machinery or machine tools
• Strong experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar platforms
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously
• Strong understanding of machining, fabrication, assembly methods, and manufacturing processes
• Experience applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
• Knowledge of pneumatics, servo systems, robotics, and motion control systems preferred
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

• Machine safety standards and risk assessments
• Hands-on machine startup and troubleshooting
• Experience in high-speed automation or precision equipment design
