A growing industrial engineering and automation organization is seeking a Project Engineer to support the design and execution of complex, capital equipment projects. This is a hands‑on engineering role where you’ll own projects from early concept through installation, working closely with mechanical, controls, and drafting teams.

The environment is collaborative and technically driven, well‑suited for an engineer who enjoys seeing their designs built, implemented, and supported in the field.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead mechanical project execution for custom industrial and automated systems
  • Develop and review P&IDs, layouts, and system‑level mechanical designs
  • Perform and review HVAC, ventilation, and/or structural hand calculations
  • Own project scope, schedules, and technical deliverables from concept through commissioning
  • Produce and oversee 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks
  • Coordinate with controls engineers, designers, and field teams to ensure designs are buildable and compliant
  • Support equipment installation, startup, and commissioning as needed
  • Apply engineering judgment to interpret codes, standards, contracts, and customer specifications
  • Drive continuous improvement in design practices and project execution
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
  • 7–10+ years of experience in a Project Engineer or senior mechanical engineering role within industrial, automation, machine design, or capital equipment environments
  • Hands‑on experience creating and working with P&IDs
  • Experience performing HVAC, ventilation, and/or structural calculations
  • Background in machine design, automation systems, or industrial equipment
  • Exposure to capital equipment projects, construction, or manufacturing environments
  • Ability to manage technical requirements, documentation, and cross‑functional coordination
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working in a self‑directed role
Nice to Have (Not Required)
  • Experience with CFD or FEA
  • Prior structural or civil engineering exposure combined with machine design
  • Formal project management training (PMP or similar)
