Job summary

Queensborough Community College is seeking a College Laboratory Technician to support mechanical engineering labs, preparing and organizing spaces, setting up experiments, and guiding students in safe equipment use.

The role requires a high school diploma with relevant experience; preferred qualifications include CNC machining support and proficiency with SolidWorks, Mastercam, and Predator. The department seeks an organized team player with strong safety practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with four years' related experience. An Associate degree may substitute for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may substitute for four years experience.
• Demonstrated ability to operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot mechanical engineering laboratory equipment, including CNC machinery.
• Experience using SolidWorks, Mastercam, Predator, or similar CAD/CAM platforms for design, modeling, and manufacturing support.
• Ability to assist faculty and students in laboratory environments, including preparing experiments and providing technical guidance.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories.
• Assists students with experiments and use of equipment and materials.
• Maintains safety and hygiene standards.
• Maintains documentation related to laboratory activities.
• Manages equipment and materials inventories.
• Operates, maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots a wide range of mechanical engineering equipment including CNC machinery.

Education
